This is a 2-day training: March 4 & 5, beginning at 9:00 a.m. each day. This workshop will provide participants with an overview of the different classes of drugs of abuse. All of the most common drugs of abuse will be covered at length (alcohol, opioids, amphetamines, and cannabis) and there will be time dedicated to address any new trends in substance use (kratom, synthetic cathinones, etc.).
Included in this class will be:
- The history and cultural/political issues around drugs
- Mechanisms of Action (methods of administration, metabolization, etc.)
- Signs and symptoms of intoxication, withdrawal and overdose.
