Participants will explore the ethical issues that are shared with other fields in psychotherapy and those that are unique to the addiction treatment arena. We will begin with a review of the ethical principles of Autonomy, Fidelity, Justice, Beneficence, and Non-Malfeasance. Issues such as professional boundaries, confidentiality (HIPAA and 42 CFR), and cultural considerations (colonization, historical trauma and class issues) will also be explored. (6 CEUs)
