Laura is originally from Mexico and is bilingual in English and Spanish, Laura is very passionate about working with people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life.
Laura has a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. She obtained her Master’s degree in Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Laura trained with Bonnie Badenoch, PhD for a year after obtaining her Masters degree due to her interest in interpersonal neurobiology and relational neuroscience. Laura is trained in EMDR, Child Parent Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing and Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT). Laura Is currently in training to become a Certified Sandplay Therapist.
Laura is client centered and utilizes a humanistic and holistic approach when working with clients. Laura enjoys using humor as a way to help clients heal. She enjoys assisting clients who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, substance use issues, domestic violence issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD and autism. Laura is trained to provide trauma informed care and believes strongly in the wisdom of our bodies. She works with children, adolescents, families and adults. Laura supports clients in their journeys towards healing and assists them in developing a compassionate relationship with themselves and others.
In her free time, Laura enjoys swimming, hiking, spending time with her husband and 2 West Highland Terriers.
